MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis and volleyball teams each earned Northeast-10 Team Academic Excellence Award honors Wednesday for owning the highest GPA in their respective sport during the 2017-18 season.
SNHU was one of seven departments with multiple winners in the 24-sport field, as 73 percent of the league's 295 teams achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Penmen are also one of 11 league members with a department GPA of 3.0 or better.
Men's tennis, which garnered the honor for the first time, posted the highest GPA of all 295 teams with a 3.735, as it was also one of just three programs to receive the distinction after winning an NE10 title this season.
Volleyball, meanwhile, captures the accolade for the second straight year and second time overall, since the honor was first doled out in 2009-10.
The NE10 is an association of 15 diverse institutions serving student-athletes across 24 NCAA Division II sports. Together we build brilliant futures by embracing the journey of every student-athlete.
Each year, 4,500 student-athletes compete in conference championships, making the NE10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the NE10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
