WGIR Set to Broadcast 25 Penmen Basketball Games in 2018-19

MANCHESTER, N.H. – WGIR 610 AM, based in Manchester, will air a total of 25 Southern New Hampshire University men's and women's basketball games during the 2018-19 season. The schedule, which includes 12 Northeast-10 Conference doubleheaders, including four on the road, kicks off with a home men's game against Dominican (N.Y.) College on Sunday, Nov. 11 (3:45 p.m.).

"We are extremely excited to not only be continuing our relationship with WGIR-AM to air our men's and women's basketball games, but to be expanding it this season," Associate Athletic Director Tom Wilkins said. "The 25-game slate is the largest we have put together, furthering our commitment to sharing our excellent basketball programs with Penmen fans and alumni across, not only the region, but the country and the world, as well, with our extensive television and web streaming packages. I would like to personally thank Joe Graham, Erin Boss and the entire staff at WGIR for once again bringing this together, and look forward to continuing our partnership."

Bob Lipman and Jacob VanRyn will serve as the primary talent crew, with Lipman handling play-by-play duties and VanRyn providing the color commentary.

The Lipman-VanRyn duo have worked together broadcasting select Penmen basketball games for the last five seasons. Lipman is a veteran announcer, calling games in the Granite State since 1985, including New Hampshire and Vermont high school sports. Lipman was the voice of Dartmouth College football from 2001-10 and has held the same title with the University of New Hampshire football team since 2011. Lipman, a six-time N.H. Sportscaster of the Year, also serves as one of the radio announcers for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats – the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays. VanRyn, meanwhile, is a seasoned New England broadcast professional and will lend insight into the Northeast-10 during broadcast as he spent eight years as the league's Associate Commissioner for Strategic Communications. VanRyn owns nearly 20 years of broadcasting experience, calling numerous NCAA Division II men's basketball regionals, as well as the 2015 Elite Eight, and is also the play-by-play voice of Bentley football.
