    Graduate student Shane McDonald (Blue Point, N.Y.) fired a one-hit, complete-game shutout, striking out a career-high 15, to lead the fourth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University baseball team to a 6-0 whitewash of second-seeded and 17th-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas College on Monday at Pace University’s Finnerty Field, as the Penmen captured their second NCAA East Regional Championship and completed the regional a perfect 4-0.

    Sophomore Tom Blandini (Bow, N.H.) went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs, while graduate student Andrew Lalonde (Bedford, N.H.) and sophomore Wesley Tobin (Portsmouth, N.H.) each tossed four no-hit innings, to guide the fourth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University baseball team to an 8-1 win over second-seeded and 17th-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas College on Sunday at Pace University’s Finnerty Field. The Penmen are now 3-0 at the NCAA East Regional Championship and advance to the regional final for the third straight season.

The game will now be played Sunday, May 20 (11 a.m.) at Pace University’s Finnerty Field.

    INDIANAPOLIS – The Southern New Hampshire University baseball team earned a selection to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh consecutive season as the No. 4 seed for the East Regional, which will be hosted by the University of New Haven on May 17-21 at Pace University’s Finnerty Field in Pleasantville, N.Y., the NCAA Selection Committee announced Sunday night when it released its field of 56 teams.

The Penmen dropped their opener to Saint Anselm College, 3-1, before falling in a back-and-forth affair in extra innings to Merrimack College, 4-3.
