SNHU Student-Athletes Post Strong Fall Semester in Classroom
MANCHESTER, N.H.- During the Fall, 2009 semester, 61% of Southern New Hampshire University's 275 student-athletes earned at least a 3.0 grade point average.
"I couldn't be more proud of our student-athletes. Not only do they excel on the field of play, but they excel in the classroom, and their performance this past semester speaks to that," said SNHU Director of Athletics Chip Polak. "Their achievement in the classroom is a reflection of their dedication both academically and in their chosen sport."
At SNHU, student-athletes are required to maintain a 2.0 grade point average in order to be eligible to compete. Therefore, Penmen student-athletes went above and beyond in the classroom this semester. 71% of female student-athletes and 55% of male student-athletes earned a 3.0 grade point average or better in their fall courses. The women's tennis team posted the top GPA for the fall semester with a 3.42, while the ice hockey team was the top male team with a GPA of 3.20 for the fall.
In addition, three student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester.
