Arvanitis Named GCAA East Region Coach of the Year

NORMAN, Okla. – Southern New Hampshire University head men's golf coach Matt Arvanitis was selected as the Golf Pride Grips Division II East Region Coach of the Year, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Wednesday morning.

The Penmen won four tournaments during the year, including their first three of the season. The team opened with a dual victory against Saint Anselm College on Aug. 31, before capturing the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational on Sept. 11 and the Penmen Fall Invitational on Sept. 19.

Arvanitis then helped guide junior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) to individual medalist honors Oct. 3 at the Northeast-10 Championship, where the Penmen finished fourth. SNHU continued its hot steak Oct. 10 by winning the Eagles Invitational at Post University.

The team's top finishes in the spring included third place at Le Moyne's Mike Bello Invitational and runner-up at the Penmen Spring Invitational. Southern New Hampshire finished seventh at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional on May 9, beginning the final round 12 shots out of a spot in the NCAA National Championship before turning in the second best score of the day to finish just three shots away from its second trip to nationals.
