Paradis Wins Again; Men’s Golf Fourth at Penmen Fall Invitational

Senior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) shot his second straight 1-under 69 to capture his second consecutive individual medalist honor, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished fourth at the Penmen Fall Invitational on Tuesday at Hanover Country Club.

INDIVIDUAL SCORERS

  • Paradis' 2-under 138 was two strokes better than Le Moyne College's Jonathan Petrin and Laval University's Loick Laramee.
  • Freshman Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.), who carded a 73 in the opening round, added a 71 Tuesday to total a 4-over 144 that placed him in a tie for 14th.
  • Junior Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) shaved one shot off his opening round with a 73 that gave him a 147 to tie for 23rd.
  • Freshman Brennan Hughes (Bedford, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 77 that was two strokes better than Monday's performance and left him with a 156.

NOTES

  • Junior Drew Kane (Scarborough, Maine), who did not factor in the scoring, turned in a 75 to total a 156.
  • Junior Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.), playing as an individual, fired the second best score of the tournament with a 68 that tied him for sixth, overall, with a 2-over 142. Senior Etienne Bourgoin (Abington, Mass.), also playing as an individual, carded a 1-over 71 and finished tied for ninth with a 3-over 143.
  • Senior Tyler Cole (Bow, N.H.; 72-77=149), sophomores Jacob Rosen (Johnston, R.I.; 81-74=155) and Jacob Cole (Hillsborough, N.H.; 77-79=156), and junior Jeremy Duhamel (Manchester, N.H.; 80-80=160) also played as individuals.
  • Paradis and Bourgoin tied with a tournament-best eight birdies.
  • Laval University captured the event with a 1-over 561, which was 18 shots ahead of runner-up Franklin Pierce University.
  • Paradis, who won the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational last week, collects the eighth individual medalist honor of his career.
  • The Penmen Fall Invitational was comprised of 76 student-athletes from 13 institutions.
