Men’s Golf Captures Fourth NE10 Championship; Paradis Earns Second Straight Crown

Senior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) fired a 2-under 70 to earn the Gordon McCullough Memorial Award as individual medalist at the Northeast-10 Championship for the second straight year, as he guided the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team to its fourth conference title at the En-Joie Golf Club on Monday.

INDIVIDUAL SCORERS

  • Paradis, who became the fifth golfer in the history of the NE10 Championship to shoot 66 in the opening round, defeats Bentley University's Tommy Ethier by four strokes with a record-breaking 8-under 136 for the tournament.
  • Junior Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) carded an even-par 72 to finish tied for ninth with a 3-over 147.
  • Fellow junior Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.), who joined Paradis on the NE10 All-Championship Team, was 1-over for the day at 73 to total a 1-over 145 for the tournament to tie for fifth.
  • Freshman Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) also shot a 73 Monday, matching his opening-round score to tie for seventh with a 2-over 146.

NOTES

  • Junior Drew Kane (Scarborough, Maine), who did not factor in the scoring, bettered his Sunday score with a 3-over 75, which left him tied for 25th with a 153.
  • Southern New Hampshire captures its fourth conference crown and first since 2015, by defeating runner-up Bentley University with a 2-under 574.
  • The 2015 NE10 Championship was also won at En-Joie Golf Club.
  • The 12-stroke margin of victory is the largest at the NE10 Championship since Bentley defeated Le Moyne College by 13 strokes in 2014 and the third largest in the last 14 years.
  • Paradis, who produced the best round each day of the tournament, becomes the first back-to-back NE10 Champion since Adelphi University's Ryan Snouffer (2012, 2013).
  • Paradis' 136 (-8) is two shots further under par than former teammate Jake Nutter's NE10 Championship record performance of 134 (-6), which was done on a par 70 course.
  • Paradis registered a tournament-best 11 birdies.
  • In the Northeast-10 Championship Coaches' Poll that was released last week, Bentley was picked to win, with the Penmen slotting in second.
  • With the Penmen finishing ahead of Saint Anselm College, SNHU earns two points in the Queen City Cup standings and now holds a 7-4 lead in the battle for Manchester supremacy.
  • The Northeast-10 Championship was comprised of 50 student-athletes from 10 institutions.
