Men’s Golf Closes Out Las Vegas Desert Classic in 14th

Senior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) shot a 1-under 71 and junior Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) carded a 1-over 73, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team wrapped up the Las Vegas Desert Classic with the third and final round Tuesday at the Royal Golf Links.

INDIVIDUAL SCORERS

  • Paradis, who opened the tournament with a 74 Sunday, before shooting a 2-under 70 in the middle round, tied for ninth, overall, with a 1-under 215.
  • Anderson bettered his top round by four shots, totaling a 229 that tied him for 58th.
  • Junior Drew Kane (Scarborough, Maine) sliced six strokes off his second-round score with a 78 to total up a 247.
  • Junior Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) was right behind with a 246 after posting his second-best round with an 81.

NOTES

  • Senior Etienne Bourgoin (Abington, Mass.), who did not factor into the team scoring, penciled in an 84 for a three-round total of 248.
  • West Florida University captured the crown with a 25-under 839, defeating host University of Missouri-St. Louis by 13 strokes.
  • West Florida's Harry Butler won individual medalist honors with a 12-under 204, besting Missouri-St. Louis' Joel Sylven by four shots.
  • The 303 for the Penmen was their best team round and four shots better than Monday.
  • The Last Vegas Desert Classic was comprised of 83 student-athletes from 15 institutions, with four ranked inside the Golf Coaches Association of America Division II Top 25, including two in the top 10.
