Men's Lacrosse Opens NE-10 Tournament at Bentley Tuesday Night
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - The Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team has qualified for the Northeast-10 Men's Lacrosse Championship for the first time since 2006 and earned the No. 6 seed. The Penmen will travel to face third-seeded Bentley University in a first-round game Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00 pm.
In the two teams' regular season meeting in Waltham, Mass. on April 11, Bentley jumped out to a 7-0 halftime lead and posted a 12-8 victory. The Penmen will be looking for both their first-ever win over the Falcons as well as their first-ever NE-10 Tournament win.
SNHU stands at 4-9 overall and 4-5 in the Northeast-10, but the Penmen have won four of their last seven games to qualify for the NE-10 tournament for the fourth time in program history. In its most recent game, Southern New Hampshire trailed top-ranked Le Moyne 4-3 at halftime on Saturday before the Dolphins pulled away for an 11-5 victory.
Bentley, which is ranked No. 7 nationally, stands at 8-3 overall and 7-2 in the NE-10, with its only losses coming to nationally-ranked squads in C.W. Post (18-7), Le Moyne (11-3) and Merrimack (6-5, 3OT). The Falcons are coming off a 12-6 win over Pace to close out the regular season.
Tuesday's winner will advance to face second-seeded Merrimack (13-1, 8-1) in a semifinal contest Friday in North Andover, Mass. Game time will be announced later this week.
