Paul Calkins became the fourth head
coach in the history of the Southern New Hampshire University men's
lacrosse program in 1989. As he enters his 22nd year in 2010,
Calkins was elevated to full-time status in the summer of 2009.
A former two-sport athlete at SNHU, he led the Penmen to a 7-4
record in his rookie season
and followed up with an 8-3 campaign in 1990. The eight wins tied
the school record for most victories in a season.
In 1995 Calkins guided SNHU to a 6-6 record and an appearance in
the semifinals of the ECAC Division II tournament--the program's
first-ever taste of post season play. Post-season play has
been a much more common occurance in recent years, as Calkins has
guided SNHU to three-straight Northeast-10 Conference Tournament
appearances (2004, 05, 06).
An active member of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse
Association (USILA), he currently serves on both the USILA Division
II All-America selection committee and the USILA Division II
national rankings committee.
Calkins lettered in lacrosse and hockey while a student at SNHU
and totaled 8 goals and 16 assists for the 1984 lacrosse team that
finished 5-5.
A native of Baldwinsville, NY, he attended Baker High School where
he lettered in hockey and lacrosse. He currently resides in Bow, NH
with his wife Nina and their three sons Nicholas, Christian and
Devin.
James DeLanoy enters his fourth season as Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator with the SNHU men's lacrosse program in 2010. He shares all recruiting, practice and game-planning duties with head coach Paul Calkins.
DeLanoy also serves as the co-director of the Raptors Elite travel lacrosse team comprised of players from Massachusetts' Merrimack Valley as well as southern New Hampshire. Over the 2007 and 2008 seasons the Raptors have compiled a 53-4 record in tournament play. He also served as an assistant coach with Team Bermuda at the 2006 World Games in London, Ontario and will also serve as an assistant coach as Bermuda competes at the 2010 World Games in Manchester, England.
DeLanoy enjoyed a storied career at New England College in Henniker, NH from 1989-92. A two-year captain, he is the only player in Pilgrim lacrosse history to accumulate 100 goals and 100 assists, as he registered 102 goals and 103 assists over his four seasons. He still holds the NEC single-season record for points per game with 7.16 in 1992, and graduated in 1992 as the program's third-leading scorer.
Before NEC, DeLanoy enjoyed a standout career at Pinkerton Academy, graduating in 1988 at the fifth-leading scorer in program history. He would later serve as an assistant coach with the Astros from 1995-97, during which Pinkerton won three of its eight New Hampshire state titles.
DeLanoy resides in Derry, NH with
his wife Heather.
