Paul Calkins became the fourth head
coach in the history of the Southern New Hampshire University men's
lacrosse program in 1989. Calkins, who wrapped up his 22nd
year in 2010, was elevated to full-time status in the summer of
2009.
A former two-sport athlete at SNHU, he led the Penmen to a 7-4
record in his rookie season
and followed up with an 8-3 campaign in 1990. The eight wins tied
the school record for most victories in a season.
In 1995 Calkins guided SNHU to a 6-6 record and an appearance in
the semifinals of the ECAC Division II tournament--the program's
first-ever taste of post season play. Post-season play has
been a much more common occurance in recent years, as Calkins has
guided SNHU to three-straight Northeast-10 Conference Tournament
appearances (2004, 05, 06).
An active member of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse
Association (USILA), he currently serves on both the USILA Division
II All-America selection committee and the USILA Division II
national rankings committee.
Calkins lettered in lacrosse and hockey while a student at SNHU
and totaled 8 goals and 16 assists for the 1984 lacrosse team that
finished 5-5.
A native of Baldwinsville, N.Y., he attended Baker High School
where he lettered in hockey and lacrosse. He currently resides in
Bow, N.H. with his wife Nina and their three sons Nicholas,
Christian and Devin.
Jared Corcoran is in his third season on the SNHU men’s lacrosse coaching staff. He works primarily with the defense and the goalies.
One of the most decorated goalkeepers in Division II lacrosse history, Corcoran helped lead Le Moyne College to three Division II national championships in goal from 2004-07. A three-time first team All-American and three-time Division II Goalie of the Year, Corcoran was a two-time captain for the Dolphins.
A native of Concord, N.H., Corcoran was a two-time New Hampshire Goalie of the Year at Concord HS and led the Crimson Tide to a pair of state titles. He then spent a year at Bridgton (Maine) Academy.
Corcoran is currently working
towards his master’s degree at SNHU.
Rob Gartmayer was named an assistant coach with the SNHU men’s lacrosse program prior to the 2008-09 season.
A former standout for the Penmen, Gartmayer played for SNHU from 2002-05. A two-year captain, he totaled 35 goals and 25 assists over his four seasons, including a career-best 22 goals and 10 assists as a junior in 2004.
In 2007, Gartmayer served as head JV and assistant varsity lacrosse coach at Bow (N.H.) High School. A native of Bethpage, N.Y., Gartmayer graduated from SNHU in 2005.
