In their most recent outing, the Penmen made quick work of Franklin Pierce University by toppling the Ravens, 9-0, in five innings Monday to sweep the season series. Notes: The Skyhawks head into Thursday's tilt in the midst of a three-game skid, as they dropped a pair of contests at home to Saint Michael's College before stumbling on the road against Merrimack College. In Monday's matchup with the Warriors, Stonehill fell behind, 3-0, before clawing back with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to slice its deficit to a single run. Merrimack responded with two of its own in the home half of the frame before tacking on an additional insurance run in the sixth to take home the 6-2 triumph. Sophomore Carly Rennie (Chelmsford, Mass.) collected a pair of hits in the setback, while classmate Sophie Perez (Bridgewater, Mass.) joined Rennie in tallying the two Skyhawk runs. Junior Jennifer Mayette (Scotia, N.Y.) was saddled with the loss in the circle for Stonehill after surrendering five runs (three earned) on eight hits in 4.2 innings of work.
