Emily Mongeau Captures Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Second-Team Honors
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWCA) second-team All-Region, announced recently. The Penmen top point-getter is now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American, which will be announced on May 24.
The IWLCA has honored 64 student-athletes in Division II with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams for 2012. The IWLCA is a membership-led nonprofit association representing the nation's intercollegiate women's lacrosse coaches within Division I, II & III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Mongeau, an Elementary Education major with a 3.84 GPA, led Southern New Hampshire in scoring as well as virtually every statistical category for the second straight year in 2012. Starting all 14 games in which she appeared, Mongeau totaled 48 goals and 21 assists for 69 points while also leading Southern New Hampshire in draw controls (83), ground balls (53) and caused turnovers (32). She wrapped up her decorated SNHU career as the program's all-time leader in goals, points, draw controls, and caused turnovers. A four-time Northeast-10 All-Conference selection, including First Team honors in each of the past two seasons, Mongeau was named SNHU's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2011-12. The IWLCA marks Mongeau's second major award this month, while she captured Capital One Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team honors a few weeks prior along with teammate Phoebe Clark (Concord, N.H.).
