BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Southern New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 1 LIU Post Saturday afternoon by a score of 18-4. The Penmen are now 0-3 overall, while the top-ranked Pioneers improve to 3-0.
LIU Post jumped out to an early lead scoring just 21 seconds into the first half, and scored the next five goals to go up 6-0. The Penmen answered when King scored her first goal of the game at the 14:03 mark to cut the deficit to five, but the Pioneers scored another five in a row to end the half with an 11-1 lead.
In the second half, LIU Post came out again scoring twice in a row, before King notched her second score of the game five minutes into the second. The Pioneers outscored SNHU 6-2 in the remainder of the half. Morin and Nivala scored back-to-back for the final goals of the game with under two minutes to play.
Maria Ploof (Middlebury, Vt.) made 13 saves in net for the Penmen, while Katie Hannan saved seven shots, and Renee Schwartz turned away two for the Pioneers.
The Penmen return to action when they host Post University for their season opener on Tuesday, March 11 at 4:00 PM.
