Records: Texas A&M-Kingsville 4-11, SNHU 11-6
Senior Ashley Loft (Leysin, Switzerland) and freshman Abla Chadli earned a doubles win, but rain forced the cancelation of the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team's match with Texas A&M University-Kingsville on Saturday at the Wynne Warden Tennis Center, with the Javelinas leading 2-1.
Loft and Chadli pushed the Penmen out to a 1-0 lead with an 8-0 blanking of Nadia Grlj and Paula Saenz at No. 1 singles, but the Javelinas evened the match as Mariaxi Herrera and Erika Larrea posted an 8-0 win against freshman Kaitlyn Poje (E. Stroudsburg, Pa.) and freshman Anna Sala (Matadepera, Spain) at No. 2 doubles. Southern New Hampshire lost a tough one at No. 3 doubles, with senior Yolanda Green (Springfield, Mass.) and freshman Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.) dropping an 8-5 decision to Madi Gomez and Marija Dimitrovska.
The teams then jumped into singles play when the rain came on too strong to let the match continue.
