Women’s Tennis Chips in to Raise Money for Jimmy Fund Walk

MANCHESTER, N.H. – For the second straight year, the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team volunteered its time last week to help a team raise money for the Jimmy Fund Walk and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in a fundraiser held at Hampton Beach's Victoria Inn.

The women's tennis squad greeted guests, helped serve food, clean tables and worked raffle tables to give away prizes. The Jimmy Fund Walk team that held the fundraiser – the J Walkers – raised more than $7,000 for this year's walk, which will be held Sept. 24. Proceeds go to both the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

"We could never pull off such a successful event without the many volunteers who showed up to tend to the details," said Jane Nunes, the director of the event. "Many guests were delighted to see many of the same players from last year working side-by-side with team members."

The Penmen kick off their 2017-18 season Wednesday, Sept. 6 (3 p.m.) when they play host Colby-Sawyer College at the SNHU Tennis Courts.
