INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Sahara Brown (Center Barnstead, N.H.) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's track and field team was selected to participate in the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in Bradenton, Florida. Brown qualified to compete in the javelin throw, and the championships will be held May 25 through May 27.
Brown provisionally qualified for the national championships in each of her seven performances this spring, as she eclipsed the 40.37-meter threshold. She won her first six meets of the season, including the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Championship, and was the top NCAA Division II finisher at the New England Outdoor Championships, where she finished fourth overall. Brown turned in a personal best at the Stonehill Skyhawk Invite on April 29 with a throw of 44.76 meters (146 feet, 10 inches), which outdistanced her next closest competitor by 3.87 meters (12 feet, eight inches).
