Women's Cross Country Fifth at Shacklette Invitational
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Sophomore Emma Lundberg (Vinalhaven, Maine) finished sixth overall to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish out of seven schools at the Shacklette Invitational hosted by Saint Anselm College Saturday morning. The meet marked the season opener for the Penmen.
Lundberg finished the five-kilometer course in a time of 20:24, 22 seconds behind winner Melissa Bredice of Saint Rose. Junior Melissa Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) was the next highest Penmen finisher, as she placed 15th overall with a time of 21:13, a collegiate-best time for her. Sophomore Jacquelyn Dussault (Manchester, N.H.) finished 28th overall with a 22:21 effort.
Freshman Christina Montefusco (Danvers, Mass.) placed 35th with a 22:39 effort, while classmate Laura Durvin (North Scituate, R.I.) rounded out the Penmen finishers with a time of 25:49.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action next Saturday when it competes in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
