Baseball Swept by Bentley

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Bentley University swept a Northeast-10 baseball doubleheader from Southern New Hampshire University by scores of 7-0 and 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Penmen Field.  The Falcons improved to 16-11 overall and 7-3 in the NE-10 with the victories, while the Penmen are now 8-14 and 5-6 in the league.

Bentley scored twice in the top of the ninth for the win in the nightcap.  Garrett Stenhouse worked a one-out walk, then after advancing to second on a passed ball, scored on a double to right-center by Charlie Pagliarulo.  Pagliarulo would score on a single to shallow right by Mike DeCoste.

The Falcons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Brett Damato led off the game with a walk and scored on a double by James Roche.  The Penmen would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth when Bobby Wronski (Arlington, MA) homered to deep left field, his second of the season.

Dean Sandonato earned the win for Bentley, working three innings of hitless relief.  SNHU starter Derek Anderson (Dracut, MA) allowed just two hits and struck out eight and took a no decision.  Justin Mansfield (Arlington, MA) faced one batter in the ninth, Stenhouse, and took the loss.

Curtis Burke (Bristol, RI) had two of SNHU's five hits in the nightcap, while Pagliarulo had two of Bentley's four hits.

In the opener, Bentley scored single runs in the second and fifth before blowing the game open with a four-run seventh.  Stenhouse would hit a two-run home run in the inning as the Falcons sent eight men to the plate and banged out four hits while also taking advantage of a Penmen error.  Bentley would add another run in the eighth.

Roche and Mark Lane each had three hits for Bentley in the opener as the Falcons outhit the Penmen 14-7.  Scott Strong (Naperville, IL) and Jeff Giannino (Beverly, MA) each had two hits for Southern New Hampshire.  Rob Finneran struck out nine and walked no one in a complete-game effort on the hill for Bentley.  AJ Dusablon (Burlington, VT) scattered 11 hits and fanned two in 6.1 innings of work to take the loss.
