Baseball Edged by Assumption 1-0

WORCESTER, Mass. - Host Assumption College scored the game's only run in the sixth inning to post a 1-0 Northeast-10 baseball victory over Southern New Hampshire University Wednesday afternoon.  The Greyhounds improved to 10-8 overall and 4-1 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 6-9 and 3-1 in the league.

Assumption would scrape together its only run in the sixth.  Derek Migrants hit a one-out double to left-center, and after the next batter struck out, Tim Scafidi singled down the right field line to score Migrants.

Scafidi led Assumption with three hits while Migrants had a pair.  Bob Wronski (Arlington, MA) had a double for SNHU, while Chris O'Neil (Chelmsford, MA), Skyler Byrd (Milford, NH) and Eric Pelletier (Beverly, MA) each had single hits for the Penmen.  Bryant Gauthier (Lynn, MA) took the loss on the mound, allowing eight hits in six innings of work, striking out six while not walking a batter.

SNHU returns to action Thursday afternoon when it entertains Franklin Pierce University in its home opener.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30.
