  • 2016 Season Highlights: Baseball

    The Southern New Hampshire University baseball team posted an overall record of 50-7 in 2016, the highest single season win total in program history. The Penmen captured their second Northeast-10 Conference Championship in three seasons and advanced to the 2016 NCAA Division II East Regional Final.
  • Penmen Officially Claim Second Queen City Cup

    MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University athletic department was awarded its second straight “Queen City Cup” by Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas at City Hall on Tuesday evening after the Penmen defeated Saint Anselm College in the year-long competition encompassing 16 sports contested between the two schools. SNHU earned a 26-10 victory this season after posting a 22-12 win in 2014-15.

    MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University Department of Athletics and Recreation has released its annual Year in Review, highlighting the successes enjoyed by its 19 varsity teams in the 2015-16 academic year. The 38-page report highlights the Penmen’s success in competition, the classroom and the community.

  • Seven Penmen Nab Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Honors

    MANSFIELD, Mass. – Graduate student Ryan Gendron (Nashua, N.H.), seniors Mo Hannan (Scarborough, Maine) and Alexa Allen (E. Longmeadow, Mass.), juniors Nicole Kennedy (Windham, Maine) and Aimee Cawlina (Peabody, Mass.), and sophomores Jake Walkinshaw (Seymour, Conn.) and Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) all of Southern New Hampshire University earned Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference accolades Friday.

    MANSFIELD, Mass. – Two hundred thirty-four student-athletes from Southern New Hampshire University, representing all 18 of its programs, were selected to the Northeast-10 Spring 2016 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
  • Baseball Places 24 in Seven Summer Leagues

    MANCHESTER, N.H. – Twenty-four student-athletes from the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team have found homes to play baseball this summer across seven different leagues. The Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) leads the way with 10 Penmen, while the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) will feature five SNHU players. The New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) and Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) will each host three Penmen.
  • Viehoff, Valdespina, Cruz Selected in MLB Draft

    SECAUCUS, N.J. – Senior Tim Viehoff (Derry, N.H.), sophomore Justin Valdespina (Garfield, N.J.) and junior Manny Cruz (Wolcott, Conn.) of the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team were selected in the 12th, 15th and 23rd rounds of the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft, respectively, Saturday.
  • SNHU’s 41st-Place Finish in Learfield Directors’ Cup is Program’s Best Ever

    CLEVELAND – The Southern New Hampshire athletic department placed 41st in the final release of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings Thursday as it recorded its best finish ever. The Penmen amassed a total of 356.75 points, adding on 64 points from baseball following the previous release of the standings May 26.

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Southern New Hampshire University finished fifth in the 2015-16 Northeast-10 Presidents’ Cup standings, the league announced Monday at its annual banquet. SNHU records its highest finish ever a year after doing so by placing eighth.

    The eighth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team staved off elimination for the fifth straight game at the NCAA East Regional to force a winner-take-all game two in the final, but fell to third-ranked Franklin Pierce University at Pappas Field on Monday to finish just one game short of a trip to the College World Series in Cary N.C.
  • Baseball Wins Two More Elimination Games to Reach NCAA East Regional Final

    Sophomore Mitchell Powers (Portland, Maine) turned in a gutsy pitching performance out of the bullpen and seven different Penmen knocked in a run as the eighth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University baseball team was victorious in two more NCAA East Regional elimination games at Franklin Pierce University’s Pappas Field on Sunday to punch its ticket to Monday’s final. SNHU scored five unanswered runs to post a 5-2 win against Bridgeport University in the first game before defeating Saint Thomas Aquinas College, 10-4, in the loser’s bracket semifinal.
  • Magic Number is 51 as Baseball Battles Franklin Pierce for Regional Title Monday

    The Southern New Hampshire University baseball team will need 51 wins to punch its ticket to the Division II College World Series and hopes to gather those final two victories when it squares off with Franklin Pierce University on Monday, May 23 (12 p.m.) in the NCAA East Regional final at Pappas Field.
