Sophomore Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, The Netherlands) staked the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team to a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute, but eighth-ranked Adelphi University used a second-half rally to record a 2-1 victory in the regular-season finale Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field.

van der Doorn's strike came at the 21:57 mark off a penalty corner when she snapped the scoreless deadlock with a shot from the top of the circle that beat Adelphi goalkeeper Amanda Gargiulo.

The score stayed that way through halftime until Lena Pollich's centering pass from the right set up the equalizer by Emily Power 7:34 into the second stanza.

The Panthers maintained momentum and grabbed the lead just 4:14 later when sophomore goalkeeper Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) stopped Pollich's initial shot, but Elizabeth Mercuri was there to pop the rebound opportunity into the net to make it 2-1.

Southern New Hampshire put the pressure on the Panthers, as sophomore Maddie Holt (Seabrook, N.H.) forced Gargiulo to make consecutive saves late in the 57th minute before Adelphi staved off three straight Penmen penalty corners spanning the 64th and 65th minutes.

- The Penmen wrap up their third season with program records for wins (9), conference victories (5) and winning percentage (.500).
- Rennie made a pair of saves, while Gargiulo stopped four shots for the Panthers.
- Southern New Hampshire outshot Adelphi, 11-8, including 4-2 in the opening half, and also held a massive 9-1 advantage in penalty corners.
