  • Penmen Officially Claim Second Queen City Cup

    MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University athletic department was awarded its second straight “Queen City Cup” by Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas at City Hall on Tuesday evening after the Penmen defeated Saint Anselm College in the year-long competition encompassing 16 sports contested between the two schools. SNHU earned a 26-10 victory this season after posting a 22-12 win in 2014-15.

    CLEVELAND – The Southern New Hampshire athletic department placed 41st in the final release of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings Thursday as it recorded its best finish ever. The Penmen amassed a total of 356.75 points, adding on 64 points from baseball following the previous release of the standings May 26.

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Southern New Hampshire University finished fifth in the 2015-16 Northeast-10 Presidents’ Cup standings, the league announced Monday at its annual banquet. SNHU records its highest finish ever a year after doing so by placing eighth.

    BEDFORD, N.H. – Senior Rodney Sanders (Elizabeth, N.J.) and freshman Kristin Wilder (Framingham, Mass.) took home male and female Athlete of the Year honors, respectively, to highlight nine major awards that were given out Monday night as the Southern New Hampshire University Department of Athletics & Recreation celebrated the 2015-16 season and recognized its seniors at the 51st Annual Athletic Awards Ceremony, which was held at the Manchester Country Club.

    MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University Department of Athletics & Recreation will be showcased on an episode of “College Sports Weekly,” which airs on a group of at least 10 networks, headlined by Fox College Sports and NESN, that are shown in more than 100 million households, covering all 50 states and more than 70 countries worldwide. The show, which is hosted by Tony Minnis and produced by Harry Cicma Productions, will be shot on campus April 22-24, with an air date expected some time in June.

    INDIANAPOLIS – The Southern New Hampshire University men’s basketball team already knew a spot would be reserved for them in the NCAA Tournament after capturing the program’s second Northeast-10 Championship on Saturday, and with it, the league’s automatic qualifier. On Sunday night, the Penmen learned they have been seeded eighth by the NCAA Selection Committee and will take on top-seeded Holy Family University on Saturday, March 12 in the quarterfinal round of the East Regional, which will be hosted by Holy Family at the Campus Center Gymnasium in Philadelphia, Pa.
