Men’s Golf Ties for 15th to Secure Program’s Best Finish at NCAA National Championships

Senior Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) fired a 1-under 71 in the final round of the NCAA National Championships on Wednesday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished tied for 15th at The Resort at Glade Springs to capture the program's best finish ever at nationals.

INDIVIDUALS

  • Paradis turned in the lowest round of the week for the Penmen to finish in a tie for 35th with a 219.
  • Freshman Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) carded his second best score of the tournament with a 75 that tied him for 64th with a 225.
  • Junior Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) submitted a 78 for three-round total of 234.
  • Juniors Drew Kane (Scarborough, Maine) and Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) each shot a 79, with only one being counted toward the team score. Anderson tied for 75th with a 227, while Kane was right behind in a 78th-place tie with a 228.

NOTES

  • Barry University finished in first place at the end of stroke play with an 18-under 846 – seven strokes ahead of Lynn University.
  • Florida Southern University's Michael VanDerLaan claimed the top spot on the individual leaderboard, shooting a 66 in the final round of stroke play to finish with a 9-under 207, which is two shots better than Barry's Jorge Garcia.
  • The Penmen, who were making their second appearance at the NCAA National Championships and first since 2016, improve upon their 2016 finish by one spot.
  • The NCAA National Championships were comprised of 108 student-athletes from 28 institutions.
