MANCHESTER, N.H. - The second-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's ice hockey team will host No. 5 seed Saint Michael's College in the semifinals of the 2009 Northeast-10 Ice Hockey Championship on Wednesday, February 4 at 7:30 pm. Faceoff at The Ice Den in Hooksett, NH is slated for 7:30 pm.
Admission prices, set by the NE-10, are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and seniors. The first 100 SNHU students with valid ID will receive free admission courtesy of the SNHU Student Government Association.
Southern New Hampshire is 9-12-2 overall, but 3-1-1 in its final regular season games heading into the NE-10 Tournament. The Penmen are coming off a 5-5 tie with Suffolk on February 23 in which it trailed 4-0, but forced overtime as time expired in regulation. SNHU is making its sixth-straight appearance in the NE-10 tournament's semifinal round. Should the Penmen advance, they would play in the championship game on Saturday, March 7, at the site of the highest remaining seed.
Saint Michael's compiled a 9-15-2 record during the regular season and a 2-3 NE-10 mark. The Purple Knights defeated No. 4 seed Assumption College 5-4 in Saturday's first round. Saint Michael's defeated Southern New Hampshire 5-3 during the regular season in South Burlington, VT, as the hosts scored the game's final three goals, including an empty-netter with two seconds remaining.
