Hockey Returns From Layoff With Loss to Curry

MILTON, Mass. - Host Curry College used a three-goal outburst over the first 4:01 of the second period en route to a 5-1 ice hockey victory over Southern New Hampshire University at Max Ulin Rink Tuesday night.  The Colonels improved to 9-3-1, while the Penmen, who last played on December 14, are now 4-5-0 on the season.

Southern New Hampshire took advantage of a 5-on-3 situation to take a 1-0 lead 13:03 into the game.  Troy Maybury (South Portland, ME) would score an unassisted goal, his eighth of the season for the Penmen.  SNHU would take that lead into the first intermission.

Curry came out firing in the second period and scored three times in a span of 2:54 early in the second period.  Ross Enmark got the Colonels on the board at the 1:07 mark, then John Williams scored the game-winner just 22 seconds later.  Ryan Barlock would close out the spurt with his fourth goal of the season at the 4:01 mark, then scored again at the 15:49 mark to make it 4-1.

Williams closed out the scoring with a power play goal at the 13:16 mark of the third period.

Zach Cardella stopped 11 shots in goal for Curry en route to the win as the Colonels outshot the Penmen 42-12.  Todd Rowley (Billerica, MA) made 11 saves in 35:59 of action before being relieved by Shane Brooks (Kennebunk, ME), who stopped 24 shots the rest of the way.

Southern New Hampshire returns home Thursday when it hosts Franklin Pierce in a 7:30 contest at The Ice Den.
