HOOKSETT, N.H. – Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) posted his second shutout of the season as the Southern New Hampshire ice hockey team defeated Franklin Pierce by a score of 2-0 Tuesday evening in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Penmen are now 3-12-2 overall and 1-3-1 in league play, while the Ravens are 4-9-2, and 2-3 in the conference.
After a scoreless first period, Kyle O'Connell (Bridgewater, Mass.) recorded his first career Penmen goal to put SNHU ahead 1-0. O'Connell's goal, from Brian Troy (Ashburnham, Mass.), came with just under five minutes to play in the second period at the 4:40 mark. Southern New Hampshire would head into the third period with a one goal advantage over the Ravens.
The Penmen would score once more in the third period with time expiring to secure the win. Joe Collins (Mansfield, Mass.) netted his seventh goal on the season with just four seconds left from Zach Lubinski (Hudson, N.H.) and Steven Berry (Ashburn, Va.).
Holske turned away 28 shots en route to the shutout, while Raven's goalie Dave O'Brien saved 31 shots in net. SNHU outshot Franklin Pierce 33-28 on the night.
The Penmen return to action Saturday, January 26 when they host Stonehill College for a league game at 6:30 p.m.
