Score: Suffolk University 5, Southern New Hampshire University 2
Records: Suffolk 6-2-2, SNHU 3-7-1

Senior Jim Gabrione (Boca Raton, Fla.) and junior Jay Sylvia (Acushnet, Mass.) registered two points apiece, but the Southern New Hampshire University fell, 5-2, to Suffolk University in non-conference ice hockey action at the O'Neil Rink on Wednesday.

Southern New Hampshire skated to an early 1-0 lead, as Gabrione collected his third goal of the season just 18 seconds into the contest with help from Sylvia and freshman Michael Bears (Londonderry, N.H.). Brett Lawson responded just over a minute later to knot the score at a goal apiece at 1:19, and Tommy Bishop pushed Suffolk ahead with a tally at 7:57 to make it 2-1 through a period of play.

Sylvia and Gabrione helped even matters early in the second when they worked to set up sophomore Kyle Valliere (Goffstown, N.H.) on the powerplay less than two minutes into the second stanza. Midway through the frame, Nick Mosher provided the Rams with the eventual game-winner from Bishop and Justin Holliday before Brendan Heinze added an insurance goal with 1:58 remaining in the middle frame. Connor Parent would add an empty net goal late in the third period to give the hosts the 5-2 triumph.

Gabrione finished with a goal and an assist, and Sylvia added a pair of helpers in the setback. Sophomore Ryan Slatky (Manchester, N.H.) stopped 28 shots in the Southern New Hampshire goal, as the Penmen were outshot by a 33-24 margin.

- Southern New Hampshire was successful on one of its five powerplay opportunities, and has now scored six man-advantage goals in its last two contests after combining for four in its first nine games of the season.
- Gabrione turned in his second consecutive multi-point effort on Wednesday and has now made his way onto the scoresheet in six of his last seven games.
