MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Tyler McLaren (Pepperell, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team spent time Friday before his NCAA National Championship race with local children at the Evansville YMCA.
McLaren and a handful of his competitors worked with the kids on running drills and talked with them about correct running form. The children then attended the race Saturday and met with the runners afterward.
McLaren turned in the highest finish ever at the meet for a Penmen, placing 43rd out of 249 runners in a time of 32:02.8. McLaren, who was just the second male in program history to qualify for Nationals, topped the previous SNHU best by 32 spots, while finishing just three spots shy of attaining All-America status.
