MANSFIELD, Mass.– After a 7-0 week, three members of the #16 SNHU Softball Team received weekly awards Monday from the NE10. Junior pitcher Maddy Barone (Halifax, Mass.) won her third Pitcher of the Week, Senior Erin Garczynski (Norwood, Mass.) was named Player of the Week for the second time this season, and freshman Emily Carbonneau (Lowell, Mass.) was named the NE10's Rookie of the Week for the first time.
Barone won her four starts this week (4-0), extending her unbeaten string to 14 games with wins over Franklin Pierce, Saint Michael's, Pace and Adelphi. She allowed only two earned runs in the four starts, walking only three while striking out 25 in 27 innings of work.
Garczynski had another big week at the plate. She had 23 plate appearances with two HR, two doubles, four singles, four walks and a HBP (.591 OBP). She hit .471 at the plate (8-for-17), scored nine runs and recorded eight RBI. Garczynwski continues to lead the NE10 in batting average (.448) and is tied with teammate junior Gabriella Vachon (Newton, Mass.) with 24 RBI.
The Penmen, winners of 19 consecutive games, play at Saint Michael's College on Tuesday afternoon. After a doubleheader at Franklin Pierce on Wednesday, the Penmen head back to the SNHU Softball Field for five---three games against Assumption and a doubleheader with LIU Post.
