Lorenzen Tabbed NE10 Sport Excellence Award Winner

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior Kylie Lorenzen (Holliston, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team was named her sport's Northeast-10 Sport Excellence Award winner Wednesday.

In one of the league's most prestigious award's 10th year of existence, Lorenzen is the first player in program history to earn the honor. She is also the 13th SNHU student-athlete to receive the accolade, as well as the first winter athlete.

Lorenzen, who claimed a spot on the NE10 Academic All-Conference Team on Tuesday for the third consecutive year, is an environmental science major with a 3.71 GPA. Lorenzen adds to her list of 2018-19 accolades, which include CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II All-America Honorable Mention, Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) East All-Region Second Team and Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team. Lorenzen, a three-time NE10 Player of the Week selection this season, averaged 18.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.0 steals per contest, while shooting 49.3 percent from the floor and 82.6 percent from the stripe.

Lorenzen, who started all 29 games, ranked third in the league in scoring and field goals made (210), fourth in free throws made (119), fifth in rebounding, sixth in steals, eighth in free throw percentage and 13th in field goal percentage. Lorenzen registered 12 double-doubles during the year and reached double figures in scoring on all but two occasions. She scored 20 or more points 14 times, including a career-best 31 in a 59-55 win at Merrimack College on Nov. 20. In SNHU's single-season record book, Lorenzen's 283 rebounds are tied for first, while her 545 points and 210 field goals rank second, and her 119 free throws place her fourth.

To be eligible for the prestigious NE10 Sport Excellence Award, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following minimum requirements: started in at least half or played in at least two-thirds of the team's competitions as a significant contributor and achieved a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

The NE10 is an association of 15 diverse institutions serving student-athletes across 24 NCAA Division II sports. Together we build brilliant futures by embracing the journey of every student-athlete.

Each year, 4,500 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 24 sports, making the NE10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the NE10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
