The Southern New Hampshire University women's golf team finished 11th overall at the Battle of Boulder Creek II, hosted by Bucknell University, which wrapped up with third-round action Tuesday.
The Penmen entered the final day with a two-round total of 776 and shot a 406 to close out the event with an 1182. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, which led heading into the day, posted a 293 and held on for the win with a total of 855.
Freshman Kaitlyn Lutinski (Derry, N.H.), who was second for the Penmen following the first two rounds, fired a 90 on the final day – the second best score of the tournament for SNHU – to finish first with a 277. Junior Kerry Twomey (Londonderry, N.H.) was right behind with a 285 after carding a 101 on Tuesday.
Junior Aimee Cawlina (Peabody, Mass.) posted a 99 in the third round to enter the clubhouse with a 294, while freshman Kailey Coleman (North Berwick, Maine) rounded out the Southern New Hampshire scorers with a 116 for a three-round total of 326.
- The Battle of Boulder Creek II is comprised of 65 student-athletes from 11 institutions.
- The Penmen were the only non-Division I team in the field.
The Penmen are back in action March 11-12 at the Browngolf Intercollegiate, which will be held at the Foxfire Resort & Golf Course in Pinehurst, N.C.
