Junior Aimee Cawlina (Peabody, Mass.) placed 23rd overall as the Southern New Hampshire University women's golf team finished ninth at the Browngolf Intercollegiate, hosted by Mercyhurst University, which wrapped up Saturday at the Foxfire Resort and Golf Course.
After shooting a 370 on day one, the Penmen entered the final day just five strokes back of the seventh slot before shooting a 382 and finishing five shots back of eighth place with a 752. California (Pa.) University won the event with a 630.
Cawlina shot an 89 on Friday and then came back with an 88 on Saturday for a two-round total of 177. Freshman Kaitlyn Lutinski (Derry, N.H.) finished just two strokes back of Cawlina as she fired an 86 in round one – the lowest round for a Penmen over the two days – and capped the tournament with a 93 in the second round to place 26th.
Junior Kerry Twomey (Londonderry, N.H.) was 33rd with a 186 after shooting a 95 on Friday and then cutting four strokes off that performance Saturday. Freshman Kailey Coleman (North Berwick, Maine) finished 58th as she carded a 210 (100/110).
- The Browngolf Intercollegiate was comprised of 69 student-athletes from 11 institutions.
- The Penmen defeated both Ohio Valley University (759) and West Virginia Wesleyan College (829).
The Penmen are back in action March 14-15 at the Barton College Intercollegiate, which will be held at the Wilson Country Club in Wilson, N.C.
