NEW ORLEANS – Senior Ashley Elder (Bristol, Conn.), sophomore Jill Couto (Newton Junction, N.H.), and junior Madison Brand (Valhalla, N.Y.) of Southern New Hampshire University women's track and field team garnered NCAA Division II All-East Region recognition, as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the All-Region honorees for the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season.

The All-Region teams are comprised of the top-five individuals in each event, in addition to each member of the top-three relay teams, from each region.

For a second consecutive year, Elder was the top discus performer in the East Region, as well as tops in the shot put.  She was also chosen as an All-Region performer in the hammer throw.  She turned in the top discus throw with a 47.39-meter (155 feet, six inch) performance at the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational, winning the event.  Elder captured four discus titles this season.  Her top performance in the shot put has earned her a trip to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Kingsville, Texas later this month.  Elder won the event at the 2nd Annual Penmen Relays on April 13 with a season-best 14.82-meter throw (48' 7.5").  She also won four times in the shot put during the outdoor season.  Elder's best hammer throw came at the Penmen Relays at 49.27-meters (161' 8").  That was fourth best in the East Region.  She scored three wins in the hammer throw- and a total of 11 event wins during the outdoor season.

Jill Couto ran the fastest 800-meter race of the season with a 2:13.95 at the Northeast-10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 4 at SNHU's Penmen Stadium.  That was the second fastest time run in the East Region.   She finished second in the race.
