NORTHEAST-10 RELEASE

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Southern New Hampshire University finished fifth in the 2015-16 Northeast-10 Presidents' Cup standings, the league announced Monday at its annual banquet. SNHU records its highest finish ever a year after doing so by placing eighth.

Southern New Hampshire garnered 160.0 points to finish behind Adelphi University (194.0), Bentley University (176.0), Stonehill College (173.0) and Merrimack College (170.5). SNHU matched Stonehill with a league-high five Northeast-10 titles this season, with men's soccer, men's golf, men's basketball, baseball and men's tennis capturing conference crowns. The Penmen earned regular-season championships in men's soccer, softball and men's tennis.

SNHU had a total of six teams compete in NCAA Championships this year, led by men's golf, which earned a berth to the NCAA National Championship for the first time in program history. Softball fell one game short of the College World Series with a loss in the NCAA East Super Regional, while men's tennis bowed out in an NCAA East Regional Preliminary match. Men's basketball advanced to the NCAA East Regional semifinal, with men's soccer falling in penalty kicks after playing to a 0-0 draw in a match that would have advanced it to the national quarterfinals. Baseball, which has yet to be accounted for in the standings, came up one game short of a trip to the College World Series with a defeat in the NCAA East Regional final.

The Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the Northeast-10. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points, based on finishes in the regular-season standings, from all of its programs competing in league championships.

Points for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, and men's and women's golf are awarded based on placement in those sports' respective conference championships.
