MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University launched the first annual Penmen Days of Giving, a two-week fundraising challenge that pits each intercollegiate team against the others in a friendly competition to raise a collective $50,000 for the Department of Athletics.
From March 20 to April 3, each team will be rallying their fans – family, friends, alumni, donors, and community members – to support their program. The teams keep what they raise, with the money directly benefiting student-athletes by offsetting the out-of-pocket costs typically paid by players for trips to out-of-region competitions, extra equipment, and personal- and professional-development opportunities.
In addition to the funds raised by each team, a generous alumnus and die-hard Penmen fan has put forth a bonus gift: the team that raises the most money and the team that rallies the most donors will each receive an additional $2,500 to benefit their programs.
Director of Athletics and Recreation Anthony Fallacaro says the Penmen have a long tradition of developing student-athletes who excel in their studies, impact their communities, and win championships. "I'm proud to announce this new initiative to give Penmen fans a chance to support their favorite teams and get to know our student-athletes," Fallacaro said.
"Gifts to Penmen Athletics during this campaign can go to the team – or teams – of your choice, and will ensure that our players continue to have access to life-changing athletic experiences; world-class coaches and facilities; and meaningful academic and career development opportunities," Fallacaro said.
