A new series that starts today and be released every Monday of
the 2011-2012 season, the Student-Athlete Spotlight gives fans an
opportunity to get an “off-the-field” look at
student-athletes from different Penmen teams.
Graduate student and captain Jon Brockway
(Lebanon, N.H.) is a quiet but fierce force in the backfield for
the No. 16 Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer
team. After recording four starts and 12 appearances as a
freshman, Brockway was sidelined during his sophomore season due to
injury. He saw limited action as a junior but slid
easily into a starting role during his senior campaign that saw him
earn Northeast-10 Second Team All-Conference honors. In his
final season, with the Penmen, Brockway leads a Penmen defense has
posted three-straight shutouts.

Major: MBA in Information Technology
Pregame routine: My routine consists of a
haircut just hours before kickoff. After the haircut, I
consume a large turkey sandwich with mayo, lettuce, pickles, and
American cheese. I also drink as much water as
possible. Usually by this time, it's time to head to
the locker room.
Something people don't know about me:
Most people don't know that I have a steel rod in my right
leg (hence why people are scared to go into a tackle with me!).
The moment I am most proud of: Graduating
undergrad with my Bachelor's degree and some amazing
friends.
Favorite Athlete: Teammate Mark
Painchaud. The kid has a heart of a champion.
Favorite meal in the SNHU Dining Center: Shrimp
Caesar salad wrap. They don't have it often but when they do,
I get it for lunch and dinner.
Three items I would want if I was stranded on a desert
island: 1. Vitamin Water XXX because it is absolutely
delicious. 2. My 49CC scooter. 3. Macbook because it would
give me something to do.
What's on my iPod: I haven't
updated it in over two years so the songs are really old. I
stay far away from country music though, it's too
depressing.
In five years: I see myself sticking around
Manchester, married to my girlfriend Heather, and maybe with a
child? I'll have a full-time job and will be a big competitor
in local men's league soccer!
One item I can't live without: Ranch
Wheat Thins. They're too good to live without!
Places I would like to visit someday: I would
love to attend the World Cup in any country besides the U.S.
The atmosphere would be incredible.
