Men’s Golf Wraps Up Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational in Second

Score:  Southern New Hampshire University – 591 (2nd/14)

Freshman Jared Mscisz (Danvers, Mass.) registered an even-par 72 on Monday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team claimed second place at the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational.

INDIVIDUAL SCORERS
  • Mscisz finishes his first collegiate tournament tied for third with a 1-over 145, after he bested Sunday's opening-round score by one stroke.
  • Classmate Jeff Liss (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) tied for 17th, as he improved by two strokes with a 74, to total a 150.
  • Sophomore Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) who did not factor into the scoring in the first round, matched Liss' 74 and tied for 22nd with a 151.
  • Seniors Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) and Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) both shot 76, with just one counting toward the Penmen score. Olivar, who led the way for SNHU with a 72 in the opening round, tied for 10th with a 148, while Anderson matched Liss' 150 for a 17th-place tie.
NOTES
  • SNHU, despite only adding one stroke to its opening round, did not see its six-shot lead hold up, as St. Thomas Aquinas College improved upon Sunday's round by 20 strokes to win by three.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas' Travis Fay was the individual winner as he shot his second straight 3-under 69 to total a 138 for the five-stroke victory.
  • The Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational was comprised of 75 golfers from 14 institutions.

  • SNHU is back at it Sept. 23-24 when it hosts the Penmen Fall Invitational at Canterbury Woods Country Club in Canterbury, N.H.
