MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Chaney Nash-Gibney (So. Burlington, Vt.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), on Thursday.
Nash-Gibney, a finance and economics major with a 3.96 grade-point average, was one of 11 members of the team for District 1, which includes the Northeast-10, East Coast Conference and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Nash-Gibney started all 19 matches on a back line that led the Northeast-10 in goals-against average (0.77) and goals allowed (15). Gibney helped the Penmen finish 13-4-2 and advance to the semifinal round of the NE10 Championship for the first time since 2015.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team (if necessary) Academic All-America honorees to be announced in early December.
