MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Cedric Jocelyn (Nyack, N.Y.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team was named the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, as the Conference announced its weekly award winners.
Jocelyn garnered the weekly distinction for the second time this season after finishing as the top NCAA Division II freshman at the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday. He crossed the finish line in 26:26.3, which was the seventh-best freshman time overall in a field of 180 student-athletes. Jocelyn's time is a new personal record, and eclipsed his previous best by more than 20 seconds.
The Penmen cross country teams are idle until Sunday, October 22 when they head to Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts for the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Cross Country Championships.
