Men's Cross Country Finishes 4th In Strong Showing At NCAA Division II East Regionals

Result: Southern New Hampshire University – 4th/24 (170)

With sophomore Micah Hewitson (New Market, Md.) and Freshman Ethan Matthews (Ayer, Mass.) leading the way, the Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team ran to its best-ever finish at the NCAA Division II East Regional at Bethpage, N.Y. Saturday.    The fourth-place finish was one spot ahead of last season, and the team finished just eight points short of finishing in the top three.

Hewitson finished eighth overall in 32:58.1, finishing together with Matthews, who ran ninth in 33:02.4.   Junior Michael Moreno (Houston, Texas) turned in a 33:20.0 on the sloppy course, running in 17th place.  The other SNHU scorers were sophomore Cedric Jocelyn (Nyack, N.Y.) and freshman Conner Leone (Southington, Conn.).  Jocelyn finished 35th in 34:07.09 and Leone 40th overall in 34:24.1.  

Sophomore Jack Ardrey (Milford, Conn.), 34.52.5, and freshman Alex Boedeker (Attleboro, Mass.), 35:05.2, also ran for the Penmen.

Notes:
- Stonehill College captured the team title with 52 points, and the Skyhawks were followed by American International College (63), Southern Connecticut State (101) and SNHU (109).  Roberts Wesleyan University (133) finished fifth.  Leakey Kipkosgei, an AIC senior, won the race in 31:11.5.
