SNHU Men's Cross Country Runs Sixth At Regionals; Hewitson Qualifies For National Meet

Result: Southern New Hampshire University – 5th/14 (96)

Junior Micah Hewitson (New Market, Md.) finished fifth overall and the SNHU Men's Cross Country team finished in sixth place at Saturday's NCAA Division II East Regional in Philadelphia, Pa.

  • Hewitson qualified for the National Championship by finishing fifth overall in 32.01. 
  • Junior Cedric Jocelyn (Nyack, N.Y.) was the second Penmen to cross the line, finishing 21st in 32:30.2
  • Senior Michael Moreno (Houston, Texas) wound up with a 26th place finish in 32:40.9.  Sophomore Alex Boedeker (Attleboro, Mass.) was next in 32nd at 33:06.5.
  • Sophomore Conner Leone (Southington, Conn.) capped his season wtih a 33:28.1 for the 10k, in 39th place.
  • American International College had the individual winner with freshman Ezra Mutai.  The NE10 champ repeated in Philadelphia with a 30:58.4, claiming the title by 43 seconds over Lucas Taxter of Stonehill. 
  • Roberts Wesleyan (55) defeated American International College (65) for the team title.  Stonehill (82), Franklin Pierce (97) and Southern Connecticut State (117) finished ahead of the Penmen (123).
  • Hewitston will race next on November 23 at the NCAA Division II National Championship at Haggin Oaks Golf Course in Sacramento, Calif.
