Katy Howard joined the women's basketball staff at SNHU in August of 2017.
Howard arrived at Southern New Hampshire following a three-year stint as an assistant coach on the women's basketball staff at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa. Howard helped the Tartans post program-best win totals in both 2015-16 and 2016-17, finishing with a 21-7 record each year. The team reached the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time in program history in 2016 and then captured an ECAC Division III title in 2017.
Howard began her coaching career in 2013-14 as an assistant at Worcester State University, where she was responsible for the coordination of drills for team practices, management of team film sessions and monitoring of team weightlifting sessions. She was also involved in recruitment of future student-athletes.
Howard, who was born in Pittsburgh, played collegiately at Assumption College, where she enjoyed a solid career as a four-year starter. Howard was a 1,000-point scorer, who finished 14th on the all-time scoring list, while averaging 3.4 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 114 games. She also has the honorable distinction of being the program's all-time leader in minutes played and contests started. As a senior, Howard led the Greyhounds to the Northeast-10 Championship final and an appearance in the NCAA Division II East Regional as a senior.
Howard received her Bachelor's degree in Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies from Assumption in 2013.
