Women's Tennis Buzzes Past American Int'l, 6-1

Sophomore Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) did not drop a single game in her two matches, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team moved to 2-0 with a 6-1 victory over American International College on Saturday afternoon at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.

  • Etienne was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 3 singles against Sophie Roberge and also teammed with freshman Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) at No. 1 doubles for a 6-0 blanking of Meri Jimeno and Mikaela Johnson.
  • Freshman Isabella Andrade (Cochabama, Bolivia), sophomore Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.) and freshman Samantha Cote (Groton, Conn.) were all 6-0, 6-0 winners at Nos. 4-6 singles, respectively.
  • Southern New Hampshire begins the season 2-0 for the second time in the last three years.
  • The Penmen return to action Sunday, Sept. 22 (1 p.m.) when they play host to Adelphi University.
