MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team was named both the Northeast-10 Player and Rookie of the Week for the period ending Sept. 29, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Hubickova, who sweeps the weekly awards for the second straight week, went 6-0, including 3-0 at No. 1 singles, during a perfect 3-0 week for the Penmen. Hubickova breezed past Bentley University's Alessa Matuty, 6-0, 6-1 on Wednesday, outlasted Franklin Pierce University's Himani Mor, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) on Saturday and finished off the week with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Post University's Andrea Sandoval on Sunday. Hubickova also posted three wins at No. 1 doubles with sophomore Alexxa Etienne. They made quick work of Matuty and Zoe Chin, 6-1, posted a 6-2 victory against Mor and Liria Loria, and took down Sandoval and Areej Fareh, 6-2.
Hubickova and the Penmen return to action Tuesday, Oct. 1 (3 p.m.) when they play host to Assumption College at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.
