Women's Tennis Tops Previously Undefeated Stonehill 4-3 In NE10 Play

Freshman Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team won both of her matches to help lead the Penmen to a 4-3 win over Stonehill College on Saturday.

  • Hubickova defeated Stonehill freshman Cristina Solorzano Valencia at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-2 and teamed with sophomore Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) for a No. 1 doubles win. 
  • Freshman Isabella Andrade (Cochabama, Bolivia) and sophomore Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.) also won both of their matches, beginning with a 7-6 (7-5) win over Steffi Antao and Caroline Ray at No. 3 doubles.
  • Andrade won her No. 5 singles match with Antao, 7-5, 6-2
  • Dwyer was a 7-5, 6-2 victor against freshman Laura Jaegerhuber at No. 6 singles.
  • Freshman Selin Seyfettinoglu (Wiesbaden, Germany) and freshman Mina Houge (Oslo, Norway) teamed for a win at No. 2 doubles.  
  • Southern New Hampshire University handed Stonehill College, ranked No. 4 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Region rankings, its first Northeast-10 Conference regular season loss since 2016.
  • The Penmen are home on Sunday, Oct. 6 (1 p.m.) to play Saint Michael's College at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.
