Women's Tennis Moves Into Share of NE10 Lead With Win Over Saint Michael's College Sunday

Score: Southern New Hampshire University 6, Saint Michael's College 1
Records: SNHU 8-1 (7-1 NE10), Saint Michael's 4-5 (3-5 NE10)

Southern New Hampshire swept doubles and won all but one singles match to take down Saint Michael's College 6-1 in an NE10 contest on Sunday at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.

  • Freshman Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) defeated Abby Ramsey 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and teamed with sophomore Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) for a No. 1 doubles win over Ramsey and Carolina Sumner, 6-3.
  • Freshman Selin Seyfettinoglu (Wiesbaden, Germany) defeated Brittany Katz 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and with freshman Mina Houge (Oslo, Norway) teamed for a win at No. 2 doubles.
  • Freshman Isabella Andrade (Cochabama, Bolivia) and sophomore Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.) also won both of their matches, beginning with a 7-6 (7-5) win over Abby Edelmann and Elly McKenna at No. 3 doubles.
  • Andrade won her No. 4 singles match with Annie Serkes, 6-0, 6-1.
  • Dwyer was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Sumner.
  • Southern New Hampshire University, with a 7-1 mark in the NE10, is currently tied for first-place with Stonehill College and Adelphi University.  LeMoyne College is just a half-game back at 6-1 in conference play after falling to Adelphi on Sunday.
  • The Penmen are scheduled to play at LeMoyne College on Monday, Oct. 7.  
  • The next home match is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. against Daemen College.
