Women’s Track and Field Slots in 11th After Day One of NE10 Championships

Senior Ashlee Carper (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) joined juniors Ashley Elder (Bristol, Conn.) and Mary Claffey (Burlington, Conn.) in registering points on Friday, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's track and field team opened the 2018 Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Jess Dow Field. The Penmen totaled 2.50 points to slot in at No. 11 heading into day two.

Carper grabbed one point in the javelin throw after firing the spear 34.74 meters (114 feet). Elder duplicated the output in the hammer throw, as she unleashed a heave of 46.59 meters (152 feet, 10 inches) to finish less than half a meter outside seventh. Claffey rounded out the Southern New Hampshire scoring in the pole vault, where she tied for eighth after clearing a height of 2.89 meters (9 feet, 5.75 inches).

Notes:
- Stonehill College currently sits atop the team standings with 91 points. The Skyhawks are followed by Assumption College (54.50), Southern Connecticut State University (47.50), American International College (18) and Adelphi University (15).
