MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Southern New Hampshire University men's and women's cross country teams will take on most of the top teams in the region at three 2019 meets prior to the Northeast-10 and East Regional Championships. The Penmen kick off their season again this year at the Shacklette Invitational, hosted across town by Saint Anselm College. The opening meet is Saturday, September 7.
"The men's team experienced a taste of success last year making it to the National Championship meet as a team for the first time in school history It will be a very tough road to make it back to the National Championship meet but that is our goal for the season,
said head coach Lex Butler. "We have some good upperclassmen runners and to reach our goal they'll need to step-up and make an impact come November."
"Although our top performer last season will be redshirting, we have a good core of returners to lead our women's team this season. We are excited to see what our talented incoming class can do to help the team raise the bar of success", noted coach Butler. "They will be running on some challenging courses this season, so the opportunity to overtake the top teams in our conference and region is within reach."
