Corcoran, Mathson Earn NE10 Women's Cross Country Weekly Awards

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire women's cross country team has been selected as the Northeast-10 Athlete of the Week and freshman Lydia Mathson (Nashua, N.H.) as the Rookie of the Week for the period ending October 6.

Corcoran ran a new school record of 21:24.8 for 6k at the Paul Short Run on Saturday at Lehigh University.  The clocking eclipsed a run by Laura O'Hanlon of 21:50 at Paul Short in 2016.  Corcoran also was named NE10 Athlete of the Week after winning the Shacklett Invitational at Saint Anselm College last month.

Mathson, in just her second race with the Penmen, ran a 23:17.2.  That was third best among SNHU runners after Corcoran and sophomore Grace Henson (Cumberland, R.I.).

SNHU will next compete at the New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Franklin Park in Boston.
