BOX SCORE
MANCHESTER, N.H. -Laurie Boland (Worcester, MA) scored
off a free kick with 1:19 remaining in regulation to lift Southern
New Hampshire University to a 2-1 Northeast-10 women's soccer
victory over Le Moyne College at Larkin Field Saturday
afternoon. The Penmen improve to 7-10-1 overall and 5-8 in
NE-10 play, while the Dolphins are now 8-8-1 and 4-8-1 in the
league.
Boland's sixth goal of the season
(third game-winner) was set up late when Kate Ross
(Brunswick, ME) was fouled at the top of the box. On the
restart, Boland fired a ball around the Dolphin wall and found the
bottom left corner of the goal past diving Le Moyne keeper
Amanda Abbatiello (Liverpool, NY).
The Penmen took a 1-0 lead with
just over three minutes left before halftime. Ross took a
pass from Shawna Medina (Gloucester, MA) and put
it home for her second goal of the season. The guests would
tie the score 4:52 into the second half when Molly
Yaman (Homer, NY) scored off a feed from Christina
Harrison (Jamesville, NY).
Stef Young
(Natick, MA) made six saves en route to the win for Southern New
Hampshire, while Abbatiello made three stops. The Dolphins
held an 11-9 shot advantage on the afternoon.
Southern New Hampshire wraps up the
regular season Tuesday night when it hosts American International
College in a 7:00 match at Larkin Field.
